Mount-Royal Park (Parc du Mont-Royal)
Mount-Royal Park was officially designated a park in 1876
and was officially opened on Queen Victoria's birthday, Wednesday, May 24,
1876.
Mount-Royal Park one of Montreal’s largest green spaces. From the top of Mount-Royal, you will get
impressive views of downtown Montreal and the surrounding area. The large cross at the top of the
mountain, which is one of the premiere attractions at the park, was erected in 1924 by the
St. John the Baptist Society. The park includes a bandstand and Beaver Lake. Park
stands in the middle of the city, is an oasis of green spaces and a peaceful haven for the
citizens. It is the first place they think of going when they want to really get a taste of fresh
air without leaving the city.
A lookout at the top offers a panoramic view of the whole city.
